Abstract
In this presentation, I will first give a brief introduction into the fundamentals of finite element methods followed by an overview over a novel finite element method that I am developing for contact problems. The highlight of the new method lies in the description of geometries using level set functions combined with fixed finite element background grids. I will show numerical results for contact in composite materials and I will show how the method is used to create efficient pipelines from CT images to finite element simulations.
This seminar is a part of the AI Seminar Series organised by SCIENCE AI Centre. The series highlights advances and challenges in research within Machine Learning, Data Science, and AI. Like the AI Centre itself, the seminar series has a broad scope, covering both new methodological contributions, ground-breaking applications, and impacts on society.
